Care Histories |
A look at how
Victorian has helped others -
Victorian Case History A Little
Help, Please Mrs. M. retired from a
successful career and was always very independent. When
her eyesight began to fail, she voluntarily gave up her
license (much to the relief of her family). Today she
has “pretty good” vision and relies on her Victorian
home health aide to help her shop and run
errands.
Victorian Case
History Caring for
the Caregiver An energetic woman in her 70’s, Mrs. B.
called Victorian after her husband had a stroke
paralyzed his left side. She needed help throughout the
day, dressing him, getting in and out of the shower, and
doing all the everyday things which can be difficult for
stroke patients – and their caregivers. Now, a CNA
(Certified Nursing Assistant) from Victorian is assisting
Mrs. B. in her home approximately four hours a
day.
Victorian
Case History Round the
Clock Care Needed The warning signs started to appear, one by
one. Forgetfulness, losing the checkbook, bills not
paid. It wasn’t until the cable was turned off that Mrs.
V’s daughter realized something was wrong. A visit to
the doctor confirmed Mrs. V was in a pre-Alzheimer’s
condition. Her daughter called Victorian for 24-hour,
round-the-clock care for month. Since Mrs. V’s daughter
lives in another state, she wants to make sure her
mother is being taken care of, all the
time.
Victorian
Case History Personal
Time Mr. P
took care of his wife since she was disabled a year or
so ago. Fortunately, he’s able to do everything that’s
needed in order to take care of her. On the advice of a
friend, Mr. P’s oldest daughter looked into respite care
from Victorian. Now, a trained home health caregiver
visits three times a week for four hours. These visits
give Mr. P. the time he needs, to do things like
shopping, socializing and other activities that add to
his quality of life | |

(continued) Care In The Comfort Of Your Own
Home The “Home
Care” Option |
| For most people, receiving care in the
comfort of their own home is the preferred option.
Staying at home, amid familiar surroundings is much less
upsetting than moving into a
new living arrangement, such as a nursing home, rehab
hospital or assisted living facility. Another
consideration is that couples may have to be split up when admitted to a
facility. |

|
However, as much as someone might want
to stay in their own home, what if that person is unable
to take care of themself? What if the person is
disabled, in a wheelchair or at risk of falling and
injuring themself -- can they still stay at home? The
answer is a qualified YES. While every case is different
and should be evaluated by a medical doctor, most people
don’t need to be institutionalized, if they can obtain
qualified caregivers to provide the appropriate level of
care in the home. That’s where Victorian Home Sweet Home
